Lately, I have been thinking adopting a uniform. I think it comes from an overall shift I would like to make to living simpler. Having moved more times than I can count over the last 7 years, I am acutely aware of the value (or lack thereof) of 'things'.
Living simply is an art, and one that I would like to perfect, so I can apply focused energy to those things that I find really important. Like travel and artistic expression and feeding my creativity.
So it starts with dressing simply. We are overwhelmed with so much choice - fast, easy fashion that is consumed and thrown away without a thought. Whatever happened to quaility, well tailored goods? What about those classic statement pieces that are looked after and worn for years?
Taking notes from two of fashion's greatest - Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfeld - I've decided that if I am adopt any uniform, I will restrict my colours to black and white. While keeping clothing to these two hues and accentuating with different coloured accessories, I think I can build a classic, chic wardrobe that will never date.
